Keeping your knives in a safe place is also a rule that must be adhered to at all times. Not only does it prevent you from accidentally dropping your knives and hurting yourself, you could also avoid potential disasters, such as your children grabbing the knives, from happening.

When handling a knife, it’s important to remember to use your dominant hand. Your dominant hand should be the one to hold the blade at all times. You must have absolute control over the knife from beginning to the end to ensure that you don’t get hurt.
Secure your chopping board
Try securing your chopping board before you begin cutting anything. If you have countertops that are slippery or too smooth, then place things such as rough cloths under your chopping board to create friction. This would give it a better grip and can prevent your knife from slipping and hurting yourself.
Handle knives safely
Lastly, always remember that knives are not toys to be played with. Don’t walk around with the blade of the knife pointing forwards, instead hold the blade downright to prevent from accidentally stabbing anyone. Also, remember to not wave or swing around the knives casually. They must be handled carefully at all times.
